Airport – Karatu
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your dedicated guide will warmly welcome you and escort you on a scenic drive to the charming town of Karatu. This journey takes approximately 23 hours, offering picturesque views of Tanzania’s lush landscapes, rolling hills, and bustling villages. Alternatively, if you arrive at Arusha Airport (ARK), your transfer to Karatu is equally captivating, though shorter. Once you arrive at your lodge, settle into the serene surroundings and unwind after your journey. If time permits, you can choose to explore the local area or simply relax, taking in the lodge’s tranquil ambiance. As the sun sets, indulge in a sumptuous dinner featuring fresh, locally sourced ingredients, setting the perfect tone for the adventure ahead. Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park
After an early breakfast at your lodge, embark on an exhilarating drive to Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife destinations. The journey, approximately 4-5 hours, offers breathtaking views as you traverse the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with opportunities to stop for photos at scenic viewpoints along the way. Upon entering the Serengeti, you’ll be greeted by the park’s vast golden plains teeming with life. Optional Activities at Mto wa Mbu or Departure from Karatu to JRO/ARK
After breakfast, you have the flexibility to either explore the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu or depart directly from Karatu, depending on your preferences and flight schedule.
Option 1: Explore Mto wa Mbu
If time allows, enjoy one of the following optional activities in the lively Mto wa Mbu area:
- Coffee Tour & Village Walk: Learn the traditional coffee-making process and take a guided walk through the local village.
Price: $35 per person - Market Tour: Stroll through the bustling market to experience the local culture, crafts, and fresh produce.
Price: $25 per person - Cycling Adventure: Ride through banana plantations and scenic landscapes for a refreshing and active experience.

After your chosen activity, you’ll enjoy lunch in Mto wa Mbu before starting your transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward flight. The drive to the airport from Mto wa Mbu is approximately 3.5 hours (240 km).
Option 2: Departure from Karatu
If you prefer a more relaxed morning, you can unwind at your lodge in Karatu before starting your journey to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport. From Karatu, the drive to the airport is approximately 3.5-4 hours (250 km).

- Starting November 30, 2024, Tanzania visas will no longer be available at entry points (borders
and ports). All visa applications must be completed online through the official Tanzania
Immigration website.
Cost: $50 per person for non-American citizens; $100 per person for American citizens.
Validity: The visa allows for a stay of up to 3 months in Tanzania Mainland and
Zanzibar.
How to Apply: The online process allows visitors to apply, pay, and receive their visas

Identification: Passports should be kept in carry-on luggage as they may be required
when boarding all flights, including domestic and charter flights.
Yellow Fever Certificate: Travelers arriving from countries affected by Yellow Fever
must carry a valid vaccination certificate
Plastic Bag Ban: As of June 1, 2019, Tanzania has banned the import and use of plastic
